报告题目：Soil Organic Carbon Dynamics and Climate Change
地 点：青藏高原所 915会议室
报告人简介：Dr. Yujie He is a postdoctoral scholar (Project Scientist starting in Jan, 2017 with joint appointment in MPI and UCI) in Department of Earth System Science, University of California, Irvine. She received her PhD from Purdue University in 2014, and Bachelor’s degree from Fudan University. Her research mainly focuses on the land surface processes and coupled atmosphere-biosphere modeling approach in quantifying terrestrial carbon cycling, and inverse modeling and its application in constraining modeling uncertainty using multiple data streams.
报告摘要：Projections of land carbon storage over the next centuries made by Earth System Models (ESMs) are highly uncertain. Much research in the past decade has focused on the measurements of productivity and net ecosystem carbon flux, but processes that operate on decadal to centennial timescales such as stabilization and decomposition are still not well understood. There is a clear need to understand the carbon residence times in vegetation and soils. My work focuses on the carbon-climate feedback of the terrestrial ecosystem, in particular the soil organic carbon dynamics and its sequestration potential under climate change. The techniques used including model-data assimilation, uncertainty and sensitivity analysis of various conceptual models (e.g. microbial-based model), and the incorporation of 14C data in constraining soil carbon residence time. My current work focus on the global data synthesis of soil 14C data and the development of benchmarking data products for Earth System Models (ESMs). I also work on model developments that better assimilate the 14C constraint and improve the representation of soil carbon dynamics in the ESMs. The overall goal is to enhance the process-based understanding of the soil carbon dynamics and its responses to the changing climate.
